Steve Harp, submitted 5 self-published (Blurb) books to be considered for the 2014 F295 Photobook Week and we love each of them. We present them here together because their small size and matte paper interiors provide a sense that they’re forming a larger collective body of visual poems (not unlike Joshua Edwards and his book Photographs Taken at One Hour Intervals During a Walk from Galveston Island to the West Texas Town of Marfa that we previously featured.
Harp’s books are as follows:
Shiqiperise: views of southern Albania (2010)
In Belgien: a visual homage to W.G. Sebald’s novel, Austerlitz (2010)
Compossible: an exploration of the inherent latency of the photographic image (2010)
Waiting: liminal time in a liminal space (2012)
Mysteries of Domestic Space: a visual “translation” of Sigmund Freud’s essay, “The Uncanny” (2013)
